I am not satisfied with my brand new FZ due to the wobbling screen issue that I posted in this recent thread. Sony Style shipped my notebook on the 25th last month so I still have time to return it. Should I return the notebook for an exchange or should I return it for a refund, wait until I get my cc credited and then repurchase? Anyone want to share their experience with Sony Style regarding with exchange or return?

I am a bit worry that if I just exchange, they won't just exchange it with brand new one but repair my notebook without telling me.

personally, if it's going back, I would prefer a new one. I have not seen mine yet, so I cannot comment on the feet, but could you also just shave off some of the rubber?

If I do that and the screen still wobbles, then I can not return it. So, what do you suggest? Return, wait for refund and repurchase or exchange?

true - if you just feel it needs to go back - send it on. I would say that if you have everything from the original shipment and can send back "like new" and you need a new one fast, I would reorder. I was basically going to do the same last Saturday when the price dropped. I was reordering even before mine had been delivered. I waited a day, and the price difference was adjusted was only $120, not $220 - and it will cost about $25-30 to ship it UPS ground with $1500 insurance. I'll eat the $100 - I have already ordered and returned a Dell this month!

Just return it, create an RMA online and ship it back to them. There is a way to put the reason for your return as well. Your CC will be credited within a week.

First, I would use another credit card (prehaps not enough credit limit) and order a new one right away. Afterwards I would return the defected one around the 25th.That way you can wait for a new laptop while still having a laptop.

Sony doesn't do exchange. You can retun it for a refund and then oreder a new one. I did the same when I returned mine.

watch out: if you ordered a CTO, returning it means you have to pay a 20% restocking fee.

I don't believe so - I was told by Sony that as long as I returned it in the original packaging within the time period once they authorize the return, there were no restocking fees. And I said I was buying an FZ via CTO.

This is strange. When the lid is closed on my FZ4000, the computer sits flat. When the screen is in the upright position, the computer doesn't sit flat. I have the extended life battery which creates a bulge, but doesn't seem to make a difference. Still, I'll keep mine and shim it. :)

I went to Frys and I think I know what the problem is. There are 2 design cases for FZ. The one for FZ485 and mine (FZ4000) and the other one is for the rest of the models. Mine has different feet. There is one rubber attached to the hard drive access panel. The access panel is raised a bit.

This one is different from the one I saw with the other FZs. The other FZ hard drive access panel is completely flat and they have regular feet like this
    [IMG]

The one that has raised access panel seems to have unequal feet and therefore less stable. The one that has flat access panel have equal feet on the left and right and therefore more stable.

Anyway, I am going to return it. The screen hinge itself seem to be a bit loose too. I will contact Sony to get my RMA.

sonystyle.com and their b&m stores (at least the one in seattle) do not have a restocking fee.

i just bought a CTO tz and i made sure to double check. even kept the conversation log email their online chat person sent to me. and i asked 2 different people at the store itself.

if you ordered online though, i think you do have to pay the shipping back to them. and, if you paid shipping when you bought it, that's not refundable either.

yesterday i went to their b&m store at university village, seattle, they say that i need to pay the 15% restocking fee.
i said that i'm not satisfied with this product, still they say that i need to pay the restocking fee.

OK, when I tried to get an RMA from my Sony Style account, this is what I got:

How do I get it to work? I tried both IE 7 and FF 2.14. I tried enabling and disabling Windows Firewall. No luck.

Their online thing doesn't work. Call and ask for RMA number.
