Hello. I have logitech 5.1 speakers that used to work with windows xp, but since upgrading my computer to sony sz with vista, I cant use the speakers...at least not yet. I bought the audigy express card thing that supposedly will allow me to get hooked up to the 5.1 speakers. The only problem is that I am a complete notebook slot newb and the expresscard/54 device doesnt seem to click into place in the slot. The simplest explanation for this is that I am trying to put a expresscard/54 device into a pci slot. Which means I am an idiot, and also that I wasted 40 bucks on this audigy product. You would think that it would be easy to tell what kind of slot I have, but I just dont know....is it pci slot or expresscard/54. How can I find out? Would it be listed in the device manager and how do i access device manager? Thx for anyone that can help.
Also, if it is not expresscard, then are there any adapters so that i can use this audigy thing, or am i out of luck?

The Sony SZ only has an ExpressCard 34 slot, not a 54 slot.

Thx kindly to both of you.

When I had a notebook with XP it ran perfectly with this great multimedia docking station from toshiba http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3741

Then when I upgraded to my Sony Sz with Vista - the toshiba docking device no longer worked (at least the surround sound part stopped working.

Then I bought the toshiba dynadock http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/adet.to?poid=360368 Only to later find that it only provides sound through an spdif port....and I couldnt get it to work with my logitech 5.1 speakers.

Finally thought I had the solution with the Creative X-fi express card device, only to find out I dont have the right kind of express card slot.

Well thx for the info about the creative X-fi surround sound device that works via USB. That sounds like a pretty good solution.
