I'm looking to replace my aged TR1, which is still going strong, despite a few faults, namely the hard drive died (no big deal to self replace), the DVD sometimes fails to read some DVDs, the Webcam died years ago, and the screen is a bit loose. But otherwise, it's been excellent, and I intend to replace like with like.
Really, the only things I would like added, that seem to be perennially neglected are the following:
1. TV-out. I always travel with a bunch of movies, which I watch in bed with the laptop nestled on my chest. Which is great, but it would be even nicer if I could plug it into a hotel TV. If not a built-in TV-out, then some simple external dongle would be handy. Once you see how useful this is, you'll want it too.
2. CF slots. The memory stick slot was immensely convenient and fast, when I had a Sony point and shoot, but now I'm travelling with a Canon DSLR, I'd like a CF combo port as well. Not a lot to ask. Every other laptop has one.
3. Quiet fan. The TR1 is completely silent. Later models not so. I want to hear no fan noise unless I'm working on seriously CPU intensive tasks, perhaps. At least give us the option.
4. Other than a faster hard drive, not much else really.

I believe the TZ would still have a quiet whirl with it's fan, thou i think it wont be tat bad...

I'd like to have a modular bay as with its competitor, the Lifebook P series, when you don't need the optical drive, remove it to have a lighter notebook or put a modular battery to gain even more battery life.

I am also hoping for a DVI-out on the port replicator too -

You can plug CF PCMCIA adapter and then use CF cards. On Vaios with PCMCIA slot, at least.

I might be wrong but I think quite a lot of other notebooks (ie other brands) support multiple flash cards, not just SD.
The memory stick has limited appeal. -
Most replicators I've seen, though, don't add ports, they simply "replicate" the existing ones so you can leave your monitor, and other peripherals attached. -
