I just bought a new Sony TX670. I like it a lot. Just a couple annoying things. A message keeps popping up asking if I want to turn off the optical drive to save battery. This message pops up every time Windows boots up, no matter if I keep checking the box to not show the message anymore.

Also, at the bottom right of the screen, an icon keeps saying that my wireless internet is disabled or turned off. How do I get rid of this?

Lastly, I cannot figure out how to get my phone line outlet to work for internet connection. Maybe the port is disabled or turned off, and I can't seem to make it work. Currently, I'm using PdaNet with my Treo 650 to wirelessly receive tranmission from my Sprint carrier.

    Thanks!

I can help you on your first question. Go to Start->Control Panel->Energy Settings then on the Vaio Power Managment Tab. Now scroll down and you will see an option to enable/disable optical drives in Battery/AC Power. Change this to "enabled"

What exactly do you mean with your second question. Does the icon bother you or the popup message coming from the icon? I have not found a way as of yet to get rid of the Windows wireless internet icon.

    Bomfunk,

Yes, that's the answer!!! Thank you so much! I can't tell you how many times I've been annoyed by this message!

As for the second question I had, I was just wondering why there is an icon that reminds me my wireless is turned off. But this is a small thing I can overlook.
