    Hello,

I just figured out how to get vista loaded onto my Sony TZ190N/B (US version) on a clean install with everything working perfectly and NO error messages...

However.. I have a new problem...

I occasionally get a black screen that just comes out of nowhere... the computer does not turn off.. it is still on... fan is still on too.. i try to press a button on the keyboard.. or mouse, or press the power button and the screen still stays black.. Then I will also try to press ctrl+alt+delete.. and still nothing would happen.. i would just have a black screen..

I used the drivers from the SonyTZ1 (international version of the US Sony TZ series) ... Does that have a negative effect since I didn't use the US drivers and Utilities.. I have read on this forum that the TZ1 drivers/utilities are superior. Is that the answer to why I'm having the black screens.. mayeb because they are not compatible with the US version??

Or is it simply Vista OS.. and the bugs are still not yet raided out???

    I have no clue!

    Someone please help!!

    thanks

Get the latest Intel driver for your "ChipSet" and "Graphics card"

    http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-022034.htm

Download the Intel 945GM model. (do not worry about Intel Matrix storage)

Install both og them, and you should have the latest and stable version of your TZ.

    Zerodays,

what can i say .. thanks again for your quick response and help! People like you, make forums awesome to go to and make learning more enjoyable. I'm learning something new all the time.

I had another question for my Sony TZ190N/B (U.S. Version)....

... When doing the clean install of vista... does it matter if i used the drivers/utilities for the TZ1 (International version of the TZ190 U.S. Version) for my clean vista install that I downloaded from the international sony support website???

    Or...

is it better off for me to use the drivers/utilities for the actual U.S. Version.. Sony TZ 190N/B off the U.S. Website?

Are both batches of drivers/utilities EXACTLY THE SAME no matter which I choose?

Which one would you go with?

    thanks again!!

They are propably the same (or very identical). So it propably does not matter.

But if you can choose, why not take the ones that are meant for your version.

It might also be interesting to look at their date. I would propably opt for the latest drivers.

In general. I strive for the latest driver 'directly' from the manufacturer's website. As examples above. I use the lastest Intel chipset (which is basically motherboard components, and I believe this one of the most important drivers).

For example, I did not use the default sony packages. Below are the lists that I managed to get the latest from their manufactuer.

    Intel chipset
    Intel Graphics card
    Ethernet (Marvell yokun gigabit ethernet)
    Intel 4965AGN (wireless)
    Realtek Soundcard
    Bluetooth (e.g., http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php)
    etc

However there are sadly some drivers/devices that are not provided by the manufacturers, or simply a sony-proprierty stuffs. Although, it is always simpler to download one package from Sony website and install the default ones, and the latest version do not always gurantee 'better', I still just strive for the latest :D

Update: dont use Bluetooth from the above link. It only lasts for 30 days.
Use the Sony OEM one.. :p
