I have seen the info on a clean install for the TZ with XP, but does anyone have a detailed instruction on how you would accomplish it with Vista?
I have heard probelms re-installing drivers.
Unfortunately I need Vista to run a specific program. I tried a semi-clean install, and I still have a 4 minute bootup.

Found a very usedful link on the UK VAIO site:

    http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/down...d.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=0&s=VGN-TZ&m=2698

Bottom of page are download packages for original drivers and utilities. When I did my clean install of Vista Ultimate, some things were not available to be installed selectively from the Recovery DVD's, such as Control Center, Status Monitor and AV Launch Mode Button Util. The utilities and drivers from the packages above work great.

    Jim:

That's a great find. I wonder if that serial number requirement prevents people from other countries from downloading the XP downgrade.

    But great find nonetheless!

If the drives and utilities are not available, then how do you perform a clean install without them?

hey guys, sorry a quick question.

I have reinstalled XP into my TZ.

The first problem here is that, I can NOT get the grapih res up more than 1024 x 768 !!!! I have downloaded the latest Intel 945GM Express Mobile frmo intel website, I have installed it correctly, restarted then it goes 1024 x 768 and I can not SET any higher.

If I uninstall this and windows xp will just use default 'vga -adaptor' with no accelrations. But this way, it can display full size (1366 x 768) !!

Can anyone help? I tried to install 945GM for vista, still does not work....

    Thanks!

EDIT: it looks like I had to remove default-monitor under the 'monitor' in the device manage, after this, I can set the res. up to 1400 x 1050.
