Is it true that the Euro/Japanese TZ series notebooks have a sim card slot for 3g service? If so anyone know where I can buy this part? I would like to replace the sprint WWAN on my TZ170N with a mini pci-e MC8775 (sierra wireless, att/cingular hsdpa). I have the MC8775 module but have no sim card slot/reader for it. Thanks in advance.

Anyone out there with a Japanese TZ? Maybe even euro TZ? I know that in europe and japan they use the 2100Mhz spectrum for HSDPA and in the US its 850/1900, so the actual card would not be useful (unless you wanted dial-up speeds) but I am curious about the sim card slot, how is it connected? is it embedded with a sim internally or can it be removed, etc?

Unless you already have a contract with ATT, I would recommend going with Sprint. They have a much bigger and faster network and are actually cheaper than Verizon and ATT.

Yes thats the conundrum I do have a ATT contract AND i have the internal MC8775 sierra wireless card. Only missing piece is the sim card reader.

wait so if I have a tz130, is there a way I can add an INTERNAL WWAN card without taking up the express slot?? Also anyone know if there is a 3g us based card out there that will fit in said slot?

    Thanks!@

here's a picture of it. it's right next to the vga connector. this one has the sprint card, but it appears you can put a sim card compatible card in, as the sim slot is on the expansion board.
