Hi guys, Firstly. I won't use Sleep again !.

For some reasons, somewhat, when my clean TZ goes into sleep, sometimes it crashes. i.e., I can NOT turn it back to normal mode (thus I had to hold onto power buton 4sec+ to fully power off machine!!)

So,, provided that I'm not using sleep, the only effective way is to use hiberation.)

The problem: its very slow... it takes more than 20-30secs to hibernate.

Ok, I have 2GB RAM (so I set to 2GB page-file), Should I set the page-file to 1GB so that dumpings can be faster..??

I don't have an answer but will note that I regularly use sleep mode (push power button) and while it was near instantaneous when I first got this unit (about 4 weeks ago), it now takes the same 20-30 seconds you are noting to go into hibernation. Really frustrating.

Sounds like there are issues with using sleep mode someone has mentioned. Where is that?

    Thanks.

    your hiberfil.sys could be fragmented
    google "pagedefrag" and run it.
    also do a normal defrag

    Thanks for the comments.

DanyBui81, yes I did Clean install Business then Upgraded to Ultimate..

Bananapudding, I have SSD model.. and the system tells me that I don't need to fragment..

Anyway, i did a bit of google search, and somebody pointed out that, the more real-RAM i have, the more it takes to hibernate.... This is due to the fact that hibernation basically dumps all real-memory infomation into a disk..

    Argh,, it's all so frustrating...
Perhaps, I should re-do Business clean-install.... I'm just finding suspicious about the Ultimate upgrade that I did...

Hibernating from 2GB should not take that long. How long did it take?

Mind you, I was not very impressed with the speed of hibernate on my SSD TZ 90. But it was ok.

I think so, upgrading is usually not a good idea.

i just hibernated, ROFL, took 1mintues and 20sec. , I measured frmo the time I pressed power button (hibernate) and the computer instantly black screened (so i can sense that the responses are fast), but to see the green power LED to be off , all took more than 1:20.

This is seriously BS, I have one of the utmost minimum applications + I have disabled so much services and devices (including memory stick/SD + bluetooth + firewire400, etc)

I blame vista in general, specially for the Ultimate upgrade... god...

btw, resuming from hiberation to log-in screen took about 20sec, so it wasnt so bad.

    That is not normal.

On my IBM X60 the 3gb memory hibernates about 15s on windows xp.
Coming out from the hibernate is the same.
    Hitachi 7k200, 200gb/7200rpm.

I installed a clean windows Xp from the I386 folder. Installed all necessary driver and the boot time is not more than Philflow's TZ90 32GBSSD boot time.

Windows xp boot lasts only 25-27s from the boot menü till the firefox starts.
Sometimes the processor power counts too.

Disable hibenation, restart, delete hiberfil.sys if it exists.
Defrag the full drive the enable hibernation. Restart.
This makes the system to create the hiberfil.sys on a free space.

Is it possible to defrag the page file and hiberfil.sys at shutdown, but this will slower donw yout shutdown. Defragmenting swap file and hiberfil last about a minute on my system.
