You should be able to just pop in the CD and hit a key when prompted.

working now it seems. I just couldnt get the drive open w the eject button, but now i have a new problem.

got it to start installing xp, but then it said setup couldn.t find any hard disk drives.

do i have tio change something in the bios to get it to recognize the ssd?

update: i checked the bios and it said that no disk drive is present. Is it just not installed properly?

not to detract, but where and which ssd did you purchase? Did you research the specs on current models?

    Thanks,

    Zk

i bought it from dvnation, the 32gb model.

i went back to the shop and it turns out the ssd was missing a clip needed to install it, so they tried to get the clip off my 4200 rpm toshiba to use on the SSD to keep the drive in, but broke it in the process. so now i have two unusable drives. i'm crushed...

i guess it's time to start a new thread... "where can i buy a new HDD for my sony tz.." :(

maybe this is a reach, but is there something I need to do to get the SSD to show up in my bios?

I guess the obvious question is... you did get the zif drive correct? not the normal ide one?

if the zif is connected correctly and not damaged, you should be fine.

supposedly, yes, it's the correct one, but it's still not showing up in the bios. seems like the bios options are pretty restrictive anyway, so I don't know what I could do to tinker.

i have to assume it's not connected if it's not seeing it... else it's DOA and you need to exchange it for a new one.

you should take pics of your computer opened up and how you've connected it and post them for forum members to comment in case it's hooked up incorrectly
