    Hi,

I lost my recovery cds for my sony tz 190/B (i deleted the recovery partition for more space on my flash drive)... and I read somewhere on this forum that I can install an original Vista Business CD and use MY Product Key that is under my sony TZ 190 laptop...

I popped the disc in.. restarted... formatted the current partition and then deleted it.. then i installed windows vista business with my product key... No problems!!!

Once I got windows up and running and during Installing all the drivers.... I got several error/CAUTION messages:

    ------- ERROR CAUTION MESSAGES -----------------

    1.

"The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer."

"Click 'OK' to enter Hibernate mode, and remove & re-insert the battery"

    -------------------------------------

Anybody know how to fix this???? please let me know! thanks

I got it, its has something to do with sony's isb utility if you disable it in msconfig, you should be fine, the executable is called ISBMgr.exe if i'm not mistaken. At least i got my battery back.

I just had that too when clean installing my SZ, I just intalled all drivers and utilities and not it seems to have stopped.

Btw, did you manage to get the function keys working? I can't seem to get them to work. And I tried installating the control center from the European SZ5 but that doesn't work. I have an SZ680 btw.

Ok got it to work, had to reinstall that Sony Notebook Utilities several times, note I think this is one of the last things you should install contrary to most guides here. If you do it first it only seems to install some .hlp files. Anyways...hopefully final format and install now. I think I've gotten everything to work for an SZ6 from a clean Vista 64-bit.

Yes, same thing happened to me on my clean install. I installed the utilities and library first. I think I got this message after installing the Event services. Anyhow, I continued installing the remaining drivers, regardless of that very annoying message. One of the drivers installed afterwards cleared the issue.

Indeed. Just finished a successful Vista-32bit installation, finally :D

Left Sony Utilities and the Shared Video Drivers til last and that was best :)

Didn't even get that sign anymore and only had to install Utilities once to get the utilities installed (only Vaio Power Management and Event Services in the background it seems).

Which Vaio programs do you get listed in the Start Menu?

it is a feature of Vista.

It is called 'How we can annoy the hell out of our users!'

    Ditch it.
