I am having an issue with my new Sony VAIO. It started happening a month or so after I bought it. I went to turn it on and it said "No OS found". I sent it in to Sony, they installed new HD and sent it back. Out of the box it still said "No OS found???" I physically removed the HD and reinstalled. It turned right on. Worked for a week and then while I was using it, it blue screened and said physical memory dump, then "No os found." I called Sony back, they sent out a tech, he installed a new HD...days later same thing. When I physically remove the drive it works for minutes or even hours, then nothing. Anyone know of any possible solutions??? Thanks!!!

sounds like either the motherboard or the SATA cable is bad... Sony CSRs are probably being dumb and just replacing the HDD which is not the problem

Is there anyway to order a new SATA cable for this?

Call Sony and tell the rep and replace under warranty. Tell them you've had this problem already a few times and that they've replaced the HDD each and every time and it's time for them to either replace the SATA cable or check out the motherboard.

Unfortunately, I burnt my bridge with Sony when I told them I removed the HDD myself. Voided the warranty, I then said a few choice words. Any other suggestions???

    THANKS for all the replies!

What Sony Vaio is this? A lot of Vaios have user removable HDDs. In fact, Sony even posts guides on how to remove HDDs on some models. (Are you using a P, X, or Z? These come to mind as not having user replaceable HDDs/ SSDs).

actually the problem is with the insyde h2o bios. its documented on the sony drivers website. Just goto your drivers page and download the bios update, if your computer is still functioning!
