    Hi all,

I got laptop SONY VAIO AW41ZF with nVidia GeForce 9600M GT. I have instaled Win7 64bit.

I bought DELL 2209WA monitor and I want to use as a external monitor for my laptop but I can't.

I can not display anything in 1680x1050 and my max resolution is 1280x760 or something like this. It wonders me because I can see that this card is supporting full HD resolution but of course when I will select this resolution I got on my dell 2209wa that this res is not supported my my monitor :(

I've tried VGA ( not working with 1680x1050 ) and HDMI -> DVI ( also not working in 1680x1050 ). I can get proper 1680x1050( exactly 945 ) on my laptop screen but that is not the case. I want to select this resolution on my external monitor.

I have tried change screens, cables, resolution and drivers but without luck.
My next goal is to install one of the modified drivers (which is not recommended by Sony) and I will check if that is the case. Additionally I did this once in the past but without any luck :(

I got nVidia GeForce 9600M GT recommended by Sony on the support page.

I believe problem is with Sony drivers nVidia cards because my old laptop ( Acer with ATI x700 graphic card ) is working perfectly with this monitor ( Dell 2209WA ).

I called support center and Sony's support blame Dell for drivers and was telling me that I need special driver for this monitor to use it with Sony laptop (which is not true in my opinion ).

If anyone can help to sole this inconvenience.

    Regards ... Piotr
