Hey, I'm running a VPCCW17FX on windows 8. I've tried using modded .INF files and just haven't found any that get past the installation. I always get a screen saying the Graphics Driver failed to install, it doesn't even get to a BSOD.

I'm really hoping someone here knows more about this stuff and (if possible) could make a .inf file for me. I honestly don't care what driver version I get, as long as it's newer than 2008.

Thanks much in advanced. Let me know if you need more info, it's really just a stock model. :)

Try this: go to device manager and in the properties of the graphics adapter click 'update driver', then 'browse my computer for driver software', then 'let me pick from a list of device drivers', then select 'Microsoft Basic Display Adapter'. Reboot. Don't worry if the resolution is all wrong. Now install the new, modded driver.

Thanks so much for just responding.

Alright, tried that step-by-step and it didn't work. Same thing as always. Update starts, it says it's working on the graphics driver, works for about 5 seconds, then says it failed.
I tried it with two different modded drivers to check if it was the driver. Failed the same way both times.

Since I've never really had this work before, is there any way I should be installing the driver other than just using the setup.exe? Then should I be using the express install or a custom install?
I figure I should make sure I'm doing the basic stuff right.

    EDIT:
Good news! I found one of coolguy's old posts and was able to put together a working .inf and everything. Thanks for the help, i'm now running version 314.22 :D
