    Hi all
I have a Sony Vaio laptop (model VPCEB1MOE) with windows 7 installed.
my problem is I'm trying to connect another laptop hard drive ( Hitachi SATA drive - not sure what the capacity is, and its working perfectly) with a USB to SATA/IDE cable and its not recognizing the drive (I'm sure my cables are in working order). The USB's on the laptop are working fine as well .. whenever I plug my Pen drive it recognizes ... its only when I plug this hard drive with SATA/IDE cable it doesn't recognize.
I looked in my device manager and on it, in "Other devices" , the Ethernet controller device is not properly installed. I tried to fix it by right clicking and clicking "Update Driver Software" but to no avail. Tried online update as well but no joy. tried to uninstall the driver and restarting (letting it installed automatically) still no joy ??
my question is , The drive not being recognized is because the device is not properly installed ???
can someone tell me how to fix this ?? I'm out of thoughts ... I tried hi and low to get the drivers for the ethernet controller but couldn't find any drivers
    thanks in advance
