Hey, everybody i'm looking at this notebook Sony VAIO FS660/W. I've done alot of research and I seems that there are alot of people not happy with the battery life. On the sony website it says up to 5.5 hrs but most people are getting less than 2 it seems like. I was just wondering if anybody had any first hand knowledge on the battery life or know if you can buy a replacement. also your opinon on the notebook its self would be helpfull too. Thanks

Maximum RAM is 1gb only and that runs at 333mhz, and the weight is 6.3 pounds which is quite huge.

I've googled the laptop, and no one seems happy...

I think you may be better off loooking at something else..

My test on FS680 is that with wireless on and half the brightnesss (Level 5 out of 9 levels) you get about 100 minutes constantly. You want an extended battery and turn the brightness all the way down if you want some decent battery life (not anywhere close to the 5.5 hrs claimed) on the go.

As for the notebook itself, depend on what you want it to do, I guess. It was designed for home use and designed for computing beginners. All the multimedia functions are integrated very well, but this environment eats up lots of system overhead. If you want something for the business or performance, your best bet is to clean install Windows XP and get rid of all the Sony software. Pop in a 7200 RPM HDD will also help.

Feel free to shoot more questions, but I am going to put a stop right now. Otherwise, I'll be here all night and finish the full review here. :p
