I thought this thread would be a good place to share suggestions/ideas on future designs for Sony VAIO notebooks. There has been some speculation that Sony representatives do read through these threads. I'm sure that they'll be interested to hear what their fans and consumers would like them to implement in their future notebooks.

I would like them to start using some sort of metal - preferably an aluminium casing. (Examples: new HP Elitebooks, Apple Macbooks etc.) I would also like to see them implement a backlit keyboard, or at least an option for it. Another option should be a keyboard light. The green hinge design should continue to be used (looks great :) ). Other than that, an option for a Hi-color matte screen as standard would be nice. :D

As a side note, in terms of hardware, better GPUs!

I have always dreamt of a 14-in type with higher ends specs like Z or SZ plus a fancy LED screen. Too ashamed they only have cheap CR or CS seris. It seems no manufacturer makes 14-in lighter than 4.4lb(2kg) with high-end specs (T9xxx P9xxx or P8xxx CPU/ high definition LED screen/high end GPU/Blu-ray). I think the technology today can definitely make it happen since 13.1-in model has already droped down to 1.5kg like Z. And with a larger model they can even use better GPUs instead of those 9300 garbage. I still dont understand why there is no such models in the market.

Well the AW Series' Chassis is Magnesium Alloy, which is very strong, I suppose it needs to be for that beast!
I'd like to see DDR3 RAM sometime in the near future, along with better battery lifes for models like the FW and the AW. According to what laptop, the FW11ZU has a battery life of 156 minutes. Thats ok, but other laptops in the test had over 200, so why cant sony?
