    Anyone know if the Sony VAIO SVE1712ACXB is a good computer. It has a HD 1920X1080 LCD. Is it a good screen? Here are the specs:

    That's the "E17," not the "S17," FYI. The SV just stands for Sony Vaio...all Sony Vaio model numbers start with SV. You have to look at the third letter to see which Vaio it is.

    It's a decent machine if the price is right. I'd take a Vaio E over a Dell Inspiron or an HP Pavilion. But the E with decent specs often hits the same price as the Vaio S15, a slightly-smaller (15.5") but vastly-superior-quality machine with a magnesium alloy case and an IPS screen.

    So how much is that model being offered for? If it's offered for around $1000 or more, get the S15 instead.
