    Hi,

Did anyone here try installing the updated driver form Synaptics, version 16.2.21 on their S series machine? (I am using a Win 8 S15)

This driver brings a significant improvement on mouse movement.
However, I notice a weird issue with this installed.

When I boot up the machine, on the lock screen (logon screen), I cannot use the touchpad at all. It only works after I enter my login information and arrived on the metro screen.
With the Sony driver, the touchpad works on the lock screen.

If anyone has any advices, it will be greatly appreciated.

    R.

What's wrong with Sony driver? You can change speed under Pointer Options anyway.

It is hard to explain what's wrong.

However, if you install the Synaptics one from its website, 16.2.21, you will be able to "feel" what I mean.
Simply moving your mouse around with the new driver feels more accurate.

I've had this problem as well but haven't been able to fix it. I'm just reverting to Sony's drivers.

    Thx xplosneer for confirming.
At least we know now it's a common issue, not some compatibility issue with specific setup

Just an update, the newest drivers (16.3.8.8) do the same exact thing, but worse! They don't work until you hit the desktop, go figure.
