    Hi,

I've recently bought a Sony VAIO SVT1313C5E Laptop with Windows 8.

The laptop came with an Atheros AR5B225 Mini PCIe WiFi and Bluetooth Card installed however this card only worked on 2.4Ghz and I wanted to use 5Ghz.

I therefore swapped it out for an Intel 6235 Card with Dual Band and Bluetooth 4.0.

The WiFi on the card is working fine and I can ever use the WiDi which is a nice bonus.

However the Bluetooth does not work at all. I've installed all the latest drivers from the Intel website and they have gone ok but when I try t turn on the Bluetooth in the Windows 8 Settings the switch is greyed out.

All of the programs seem to be showing up as being installed ok

I think the problem might be that the Bluetooth is turned off and therefore can't be detected, however my laptop doesn't come with a hardware switch or even a softkey option.

I've tried to install the Vaio Smart Network software but cannot get it to run. Its installed but nothing happens when I select it.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to turn my Bluetooth on if that is the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Martin

You may want to try taping off the #51 pin on the Intel 6235, It has worked for me on a Toshiba P775 laptop. I would get a grayed out blue tooth switch on Win 8 Pro. I had read about the #20 pin but figured out that is for the WiFi. Found a datasheet on the DHXA-195, it had listed pin #51 for BT_DISABLE or 3.3V.
Please follow any and all safety precautions when working on a computer and electronics, and that you accept any and all consequences when modifying them.
I am also running the latest software and drivers from Intel.

I know this is an old thread, but I have great working wifi and no Bluetooth - no matter what I have tried.. What type of tape did you use? Also best I can tell is that pin 51 is the last shown pin on the right with the longer portion positioned on the right... Thanks for any info

Before you try that, have you tried completely removing the battery, pressing the power button to make sure everything is discharged and then putting the battery back on and seeing if it gets detected? Works with the SVZ if you had bluetooth disabled before upgrading to w8.

I tried this just now and no joy.... I know the card is good - as it works on my Dell - guessing it must be bios related...
