I purchased a Vaio SZ 691N/X about two years back from Sony Style with accidental insurance. No I have spilled a Coke on my laptop and the laptop was returned to SOny. I just got a call yesterday and they said it was unrepairable and they will get back to me by 20th with a deal.

Any idea what the deal might be and how I can get the best deal from them?

If you're still covered by accidental insurance then you shouldn't have to be paying anything. Most likely they'll give you a current Z model, which replaced the SZ, free of charge, which would be the normal thing to do

that's what I was asking. How will they evaluate the SZ, it was top of the line 3000$ machine when i purchased it. Now, i dont think laptops go as high even in Z series with comparable configuration. Could I tell them to give me equivalent sonystyle.com store credit so I can do my purchases on my own.

You get a laptop of equivalent performance. Price doesn't matter.

    Agreed on this.

Another thing to take note of is that although the OP's notebook is covered under the warranty & Sony are obligated to fix all the problems, when it comes to replacement, it is more a "good will" gesture from the company's part. Therefore, a full cash refund is highly unlikely IMHO.
