I have an SZ483N/C which has the expresscard card reader. It works perfectly fine with SD cards, but it doesnt read 4GB SDHC cards.

I am running Vista Business. Can anyone suggest if I need to update any drivers for the same? I tried searching on the Sony drivers page but could not find any updated driver.

    Anyone?

If this card reader doesnt support it, how much would an ExpressCard 34 cost, which can read SDHC?

Don't know and haven't looked. I have a USB - SDHC adaptor which means I can read SD / SDHC in any computer with a USB port.

The ExpressCard route would give you a built-in reader but anything to do with that slot still seems to carry a significant price premium, perhaps due to limited demand.

Can I do a firmware upgrade or something, do make it read SDHC?

Delkin have an SDHC Expresscard/34 reader. I bought one to replace the junk that comes with the Sony SZ. It works fine, and costs USD30 to USD40.

I use mine with a 16GB SDHC card, and it supports Readyboost on Vista.

I realize the last posting was made nearly a year ago, but I just thought I'd add this little update. For the Sony Vaio express cards, there is a model: VGP-MCA20A. The Revision A version can handle SDHC cards.

I ran into the same SDHC problems with the original MCA20 version, but ever since I swapped it out with the version MCA20A, it has worked like a charm.

Hope this update helps. I created an account on this forum just to post this update. hahaa, so i really do hope this helps somebody out. :)
