These drivers are for a Japanese Vista right? They won't work if you want an English version?

I don't believe drivers are language dependent.

    Nice job indeed! :D

The latest BIOS version R0052N7 for the TZ50 or the TZ90 model can be downloaded here (green button at the bottom of the page):

    http://vcl.vaio.sony.co.jp/download/SP-014674-07.html ( or translated: http://translate.google.com/transla...P-014674-07.html&langpair=ja|en&hl=de&ie=UTF8 )

As someone mentioned in this forum the BIOS will be in english (because the BIOS is always in english)... but I haven't tried this BIOS update yet. So I can't confirm it. ;)

its pretty easy. just download the file, its an .exe file. make sure you're plugged in with the AC power, it won't let you run without your lappy plugged in anyways, and just double click and follow the direction. its easy as 1-2-3.

I did notice an improvement in my wireless connection after the bios update.

Sony Europe has added "preinstalled drivers and applications" for the european TZ10 series (TZ10, TZ11 and TZ12) to their FTP server. And of course both will work with the TZ90!

Original Drivers Package (59 MB): ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/TZ1_DRIVERS.ZIP
Original Utilities Package (154 MB): ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/VAIO/ORIGINAL/TZ1_UTILITIES.ZIP

Or if you like to access them via WWW:

    Sony Europe: http://www.vaio-link.com/hub.aspx
    +--Sony Germany: http://support.vaio.sony.de/downloa...lled.asp?site=voe_de_DE_cons&c=-1&s=-1&m=2698
    +--Sony UK: http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/down...lled.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=-1&s=-1&m=2698
    +-- ...

The driver package is not so important for owners of the TZ90... it contains the same drivers (without Felica) you will find in the DRIVERS folder on the primary partition of your TZ90 (the drivers matrux has uploaded).

But the application package (Sony Vaio applications like Battery Care, Vaio Control Center, ...) is really nice... because the applications seem to be multilingual (german for me).

I don't know if the VAIO applications from the Sony USA site (for the TZ160) are multilingual as well?! But I don't think so.

I think these applications are supposed to be used with Windows Vista (I am using Vista Business)... so I can't tell you if these applications will work under Windows XP as well.

You (or someone else) will have to try... ;)

I found out there's another link at vaio-link.com for TZ XP drivers but you need to enter Vaio XP serial number to be able to access the page

You cand find them on the Sony FTP Server as well (no need for a serial number): :D

    ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/OS/XPDOWNGRADE/TZ1/

But these are drivers only (no applications).

    BTW:

I have an entry like "Standard display (1024x768, 60 Hz)" in the device manager for the display (monitor) of my TZ90. The resolution can be set to 1366x768 but I wonder if there is a "better" driver (Windows Vista) for the display (monitor) of the TZ90?

Or has everybody here "Standard display (1024x768, 60 Hz)"?

Has anyone tried out the Vaio-link.com TZ XP downgrade package?? Apart from the Drivers, does it comes with Sony Utililies designed for XP?

It would be great to know if the Vaio-link provide the 'original' XP Sony Utilities so that it would make the TZ XP downgrade somewhat easier.

If someone has tried that, any info/advice would be very grateful! :)

I know these threads. Thanks :) But the XP downgrade method discussed here seem to be using the combination of the TZ XP drivers + BX/TX Utillities.

What I meant was does Sony provide the 'REAL' Sony Utilities for XP downgrade for the TZ?

What I want to know is when you go to this link:

    http://www.vaio-link.com/os/xp/downgrade/index.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons

If you have the correct Product Code & Serial Number of the TZ machine, would you get a different XP downgrade package than the one you would get straight from the Vaio-link FTP site ( ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/PUB/OS/XPDOWNGRADE/TZ1/)?? ( i.e. contains only the XP Drivers or XP Drivers + Sony Utilities)??

Also, does it mean that no matter you have which model (e.g. TZ11, TZ160, TZ17 or TZ90) when you go to the Vaio-link site, and select your model and XP downgrade, all will be forwarded to the same FTP site which contains the TZ1 drivers?

    Hello everyone!
I also have the TZ90HS. I bought it this summer in JP after my old HPaq-Notebook died under the hot Japanese summer...

1Oa the TZ90hs is a wonderful piece of compact workpower. Unfortunately Sony puts more power in "worldwide feature and price management" then in international user-support. Up to this day I didn't get the TV-Tuner working under english OS, as there is no driver available. Vista doesn't even recognize that there IS a built in tuner.
What's wrong? Hardware defect? If its so, then why isn't there a driver on the net?
    What do you suggest?
    Johannes -Germany

I can't really believe that no one found a solution to get this tuner working so far.

    Disappointing...

    Hi Johannes,

unforunately this is a 1SEG TV-Tuner (works only in Japan) so no chance
to get tis tuner working for Europe.

Yeah, figured that out already. I tryed the computer in Germany once and i think I had a picture from a Netherlands' DVBT... but maybe I'm wrong, cause I was sooo unbelieveable tired :p

    Ok, what's next?
I think, I'll replace the tuner-module with something that fits in there... what about a... TV-TUNER? *ROFL*. Or a GPS-Module? Both is great but not possible at the same time :(

Damn it! I don't have enough fotos from my "dissection" 2 weeks ago...
    The flat-cable looked like a USB-cable plus 4 Power-lanes and a 3-wired audio-connection... Some homemade interconnectors from Sony :(

    Back to the main-topic:
On my Japanese TZ90HS the drivers from the German VGN-TZ11VN/X work very well, they don't even need the "model.txt-trick" to run properly.
Additional drivers are required for the CXD9192 (Cyper-chip) and for the FeliCa-reader.
