I love my UX 490N, I have it off to Anh to get some more mods right now. I have added a Core2Duo to replace the CoreSolo, a Broadcom CrystalHD for h.264/VC1 Blu-ray playback. The current mods going in are a 3G upgrade (the EDGE modem is old) and USB WiFi internal since the CrystalHD was installed in place of the WiFi card.

I have a couple VAIO Ps also. I like the gen2 signature version a lot. The UX is my favorite, it is so fast and cool. The P is kinda slow with the the ATOM.

The UX is still the best UMPC, I don't know of a faster smaller more capable machine. Netbooks killed UMPCs.

I disagree. Look no further, than say, the Panasonic CF-J series. Sure, it's bigger than the UX or P and is more like a T series in terms of size, but it's the most capable machine I've ever owned. It has all the power you miss in an ultraportable of eras past in an ultraportable size.

I disagree a lot, that is a whole different thing. That thing weighs about the same as a Z2!
We are talking about computers that are actually small and light. Less than 2LBS. You know like an OQO, P, UX, Fujitsu Loox, Vliv, that sort of thing
Why get that Panasonic, looks like a brick and a base model Z2 is about the same price but way faster.

    The processor is a Core2Duo U7600, 1.2Ghz ULV
1GB of ram, soldered on board. We've tried to solder on 2GB but no luck so far. http://www.micropctalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5534
The touchscreen works great, it is the old kind of touchscreen though, the sylus kind
The quality of the display is great, looks great but it is tiny, much higher PPI than the Z. The Z is 168 PPI, the UX is more like 260 PPI
