I bought a Sony VAIO VPC-F13YFX/B 2 months ago. I had the chance to use it several times.
When i turn it on, it proceeds to the Windows password screen, i enter my password and then keyboard and touchpad stop working. I checked device manager and drivers etc. No use. External mouse works though. Keyboard is active if i enter bios. I installed a clean version of Windows 7 from sony recovery. It didn't help. I tried to install a different version of Win 7 from a different DVD, keyboard stopped working in the Win 7 Setup Screen. I tried a plug and play knoppix dvd. Keyboard stopped working when knoppix started.
I just don't understand why it works in bios or in windows password screen but not after the password screen. I cannot install another version of Windows since keyboard stucks during the process. Some may say it is a driver problem but i doubt it. If it is a hardware problem then it should have some consistency. I mean it shouldn't work all the time. I read in the net about dust but it is a brand new one and barely used.
I am good at this stuff but this time i got nothing. If anyone experienced a similar problem or any ideas please help. By the way, i left the states for good so sending it to the service is not an option. I will bring it to a local service if i can't fix it myself. Of course i have to pay for the repair.
Thanks.
