There was this great review of Sony VAIO VPC-Z116GXS at PC Mag
It sounded like something I would be really interested in.
However, I can't find it on line anywhere including Sonystyle.
There are reviews of it all over the place but it is clear that it's the same review (words and all) as the PC Mag one except it's a bit changed around.
Sonystyle said they could build one from scratch if I had the specs. They also said it was probably "released to stores" but they had no idea what stores.
Can anyone explain this to me?

you could always have one build to your exact specs at sony style, but sony and some retailers have pre build models.
jr.com as the z114 and 118, which are the closest to it in stock and have the z116 (the one youre looking for) on pre order: wyciwyg://1/http://www.jr.com/product/productListing.jsp?Ntt=+z+series&N=4294562521-2735 -
I bought one one yesterday and got it today from Amazon.com, Search for Vaio Z and it should come right up.

This Model is available at the Egg. But the article states $1800.00, which frankly with a 256GB SSD will be impossible to procure at that price.

yeah that unit is only available at amazon (from what i can find ) and the pc mag review had it listed as $1800. i guess they meant starting price for the z11 series ?
some builds are specific to retailers like BB gets some models, that SS doesn't etc and vice versa. just like the SS Signature Models
