I'm not sure if this has been addressed before, but my Sony Vaio Z powers up from sleep mode when it is in my bag. I'm not sure what triggered it, but when I got the laptop out it was warm and looked like it had turned on about 20 minutes ago. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on why this is happening? I usually turn the power off and store, but occasionally I do put in sleep mode and travel with it. I don't want to lose my battery power on a flight because of accidental power ons.

I believe it will wake up after 60 minutes to hibernate on the default settings.

There can also be scheduled tasks for waking it up to do certain housekeeping functions like indexing, defragmentation or backups. Check the scheduler settings.

And, finally, some devices can be set to allow waking the machine up, including networking components, which can wake the machine up on seeing directed traffic or special "wake up" packets. Check the device mangler and make sure that the devices aren't allowed to wake the machine up.

My computer has awoken up from sleep to install automatic updates. Another cause may have been that too much pressure was applied to the lid, thus hitting one of the keyboard keys to wake it up?
