Um, isn't the controller the thing that makes a drive a drive? A disk controller is what talks to the HBA. Sure, both are on the same PCB but they are independent drives.
Both drives/controllers combined, I'm not aware of a better performing storage system in a machine of this size. Don't think they exist. You can get better performance with two high-end SSD's, no complaint there, but try shoving 2x Vertex 3's into this machine.
Also, I find the comment about starving children offensive. Horrible way to say it is expensive. What a bag.

If they were really that concerned about starving children, then they would donate all their money and time to it, and not "complain(totally not the word I chose earlier)" about mac product comparisons on their 5th rate online "review" site. I swear, Sony should just limit their reviews to websites that actually mean anything in the tech review world. Even engadget and gizmodo is better than that.

Model Number: VPCZ21C5E
SSD Size: 128GB (2x64)
SATA Type: SATA III
Only sony.fr can sell sata III SSD for CTO's only other retailers will stick with sata II.
ironic enough, sata II is available too for CTO, gen3 is 25 more expensive for each drive. -

"What a bag" was supposed to read "d*uchebag."

Just as I expected, a 2nd-rate wannabe "tech" site that worships Apple notebooks doesn't know squat about technology (SSD in particular), nor is intellectually capable of giving an unbiased review, while simultaneously offends people's choice to invest in a notebook instead of "feeding starving children". (Just think, all their money buying expensive Apple products could go to feeding starving children as well. What a facetious little ****.)
I recommend removing the link to the review so the technology-challenged folks at Wired stop getting their page hits and thinking that their reviews are done right. -

At least B&H were adding free PS3s to all Vaio orders, but I'm still pissed. I called Sony sales and they didn't have a clue if the US CTO Z2s had SATA 2 or 3 SSDs. -
My clearance CTO Z2190X with 256GB SSD is SATA 3. It seems from previous posts that 256GB ones are SATA 3, maybe only the Z212/Z213/Z214 128GB ones are SATA 2?

Most likely you did not click on the individual drive, but on the RAID 0 array (Volume 0), on the right.

For the Z2 512GB SSD modules, I came across two part numbers:
MZRPA512HMFU
and
mzrpc512hafu
Is the former SATA2 and the latter SATA3? I am looking to upgrade an SVZ from 256GB to 512GB, but do not wish to trade performance for space.
