    Hi,

Sorry i am a total newbie but have a friend who thinks he can update my laptop on my behalf to reflect more memory (2GB) and a larger Harddrive (500 GB), can anyone please advise whether this is possible for this laptop.

And any pointers in how to do it?

    Thanks
    Mat

Your laptop can address up to 3GB of ram. The chipset might be able to support more but Sony never updated the earlier SZ's series BIOS to allow this to happen.
