I have a Sony-VGN 760/W notebook and a Sony VGP-PRFS1 port replicator. Does anyone know if I can run dual monitors with this setup (i.e., connecting one monitor to the port replicator and the other to the notebook)? If not, can anyone advise how I can run dual monitors? Thank you.

You don't need that product if you want to use an external monitor and your laptop LCD for dual monitor setup. In fact, I don't think the port replicator is necessary. You just need to plug your monitor into your laptop's VGA out port.

The Matrox DualHeadToGo product will not work with my Sony VGN-FS-760W notebook. Bummer.

hey i notice that you have the same model as me, does your keyboard flex on the left side as well? by hearing a hollow sound when typing on the left side.

There is a small amount of flex, but it's not bothersome. I don't hear a "hollow" sound. Perhaps something is damaged on your unit.

Nothing is damaged. I think its cause the opt. drive is on the left side and the metal casing under the keyboard for the drive is metal and springy.

Well, my computer has very little flex and doesn't make a sound. So I don't know what is different about your unit. Cheers.

jaskom we both have the same series model, therefore ours are made the exact same. I dont know why im getting this hollow sound, its where the Q, W, A, S, Z, X, Caps, tab, 1, 2 keys are. But the rest of amazingly solid like IBM quality like which is quite surprising coming from sony. I need to figure out how to fix this sound cause its extremely annoying.

I think that sound would annoy me too. Have you tried opening the case? Maybe there is a spacer or pad that has come loose. That would be my best guess. I would try lifting the keyboard.

If you don't want to open the notebook, or you already have, maybe it would be worth it to call Sony - is your warranty still in effect? I purchased the extended warranty from Sony - it was about $200 for another 2 years.

As for the build quality, I agree. It's a very solid notebook. I picked mine up at Best Buy for $1,099, which was a steal. I used my additional funds saved to upgrade my RAM to 2gigs. Overall, I love the notebook. It's awesome. No complaints here.

i have popped off the keyboard, in fact ive even replaced the keyboard with a new one last week. Though its not the actual keyboard that is the problem. I dont get what it is, doubt anything is loose Ive inspected it pretty closely.

I have warranty left yes, but I have a feeling this is normal and nothing can be done. If this is the case it will be a shame, i dont know how i would convince myself to ignore it and use as is.

I am very tempted to just puching that spot on th ekeyboard and really damaging this thing.
