Hi i just Got a new hdd and i dint want to restore the laptop with the restore cd so i did a clean install of windows vista ultimate 32bit.

I have everything set up beside my fn keys wont work.
also i will like the quick button keys to work as well as they did before.
you know wen you raise the volume you can also see it on the lcd.
but my main priority its the fn keys for Brightness.

    Thanks In advance

I recommend that you go to Sony eSupport and download the needed Sony utilities and drivers applicable to your model.

Upgraded from Vista, using Windows 7 Ultimate. I have the same problem.
I have tried the individual installations of the event services and shared libraries, as well as unsuccessfully looked for the Sony DLL Utilities for this model. I have also installed the Launcher, which is described to solve the problem of the function keys. So far nothing has worked.

Half of the downloads off Sony's support site pops up with a message of "For Vista Only" and i have even installed those using Compatibility mode and running as admin. So far, nothing has solved the issues of the Fn function keys. The volume buttons are working however, just not the Fn features, namely LCD brightness.

    Anybody??

same problem here! is it advisable to install all the windows vista premium drivers and also install the windows ultimate drivers for it to work? I installed the vista driver for the webcam and it worked.

Curious, did you folks have to follow any installation order (for the shared library, utilities, etc) to get 7 working from a clean install?

Also did your download for the sony shared library produce any errors where it stated that it was for Vista?
