    Hi,

First post here, so hi and thanks for any help , in advance!

I have a Sony Viao VGN-CS21Z laptop that I have just completed a fresh install of Win 7 on.

Everything was running fine and I was just installing some software from the Sony site to get the media buttons working and all was cool.

I installed Sony update and it found a few things to install, one of them being a BIOS upgrade which it wanted to install after the other 2 or 3 drivers / programs had been installed. These seemed to install fine and so I updated the BIOS after restarting. The BIOS upgrade seemed to go fine and restarted after completion.

However, upon restart my graphics have gone haywire, lots of vertical segments on the screen almost mirroring the next segment. It makes it impossible to read text and looks like this----instead of say WINDOWS for example, I get WWWDDDDSSS. I have tried a direct download of a bios update from the Sony site here Sony : VGN-CS21Z/Q updates | Download updates for VGN-CS21Z/Q
but it wont let me install it and I am unsure what the error says because of the graphic problem.

I am almost certain it is something to do with the BIOS upgrade and even if I enter the BIOS the same problem persists.

I would like to roll back the BIOS update but am unsure how to do it. Also, I have tried Windows restore but have had no luck there either.

Also, I never did get the media keys at the top working! Does anyone have the location of the driver for WIN7?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks again

    Bert

OK anyone know how I can roll back the BIOS update and reflash the old BIOS on ? I tried doing it through windows but it errors out with what I think says "the computer already has the most current version"

Yea... I had similar issue where my hardware wouldn't work after BIOS update. More specificly i had NO SOUND no matter what i would do.

Since i had plenty of other issues i sent it to warranty and let them deal with it.
