I just bought the VAIO VGN-FS550 a few days ago, and although I'm thoroughly impressed with its build quality (top priority for me when I choose a notebook), there seems to be something wrong with the screen. Don't get me wrong, colors are sharp and text is as sharp as I ever want it to be, but something's really bugging me. The XBrite screen seems to have a problem outputting a certain color of light gray. What color you ask? If you have a FS550, right click "My Computer", and go to properties. Look at the area where there's the lightest gray. Notice anything? For me at least, I'm seeing banding artifacts everywhere. So... is this a common problem? Or do I have a defective unit? Everything else looks fine.

Okay, I'd admit it. I was being dumb. I just took a screenshot of my desktop and examined it with MS Paint (maximizing the "banding" area and all) and looking closely, the banding's nothing but two seperate colors on a wavy patern. Or, in other words, it's clearly a special skin Sony uses for their VAIO products.
Hmm.. anyway. Have another question. Is there any way I can double-click shortcuts? Every shortcut is "linked" and I have a feeling it's slowing down my system. -
Go to windows explorer, Tools, Folder Options, select double-click to open an item...
