Hey everybody, I took my gf's Sony VGN-FW230J which had 3gigs of DDR2 800mhz memory and T5800 CPU and replaced it with 2x2 4GB samsung DDR2 800mhz and a T6600 that I had from my old dell.

Now after doing the install, I was able to notice a immediate improvement in performance but my gf is now saying the laptop runs a bit hot on the middle/right side of the unit. The middle right side is where the CD rom goes so I'm not sure how that could be hotter.

I started running CPUID HWmonitor to track the temps and just wondering if these temperatures on idle are good or not.

    Any suggestions?

Are you sure you re-pasted correctly - Upgraded my FW285 to a T9600 and it runs on idle around 35 degrees.

    Yeap, did it properly.
I've searched the internet since this post earlier this morning and it seems pretty average to be in those temps. Of course, every laptop manufacturer will have a different heatsink/fan design so temps will vary, but here is a screen shot of my dell m1530 with the t9500 in it.

The sony was a pain in the to take apart, so I'm going to see how it's temps will be for a few days. If I get any eerie feelings or see weird temp spikes, I'll repaste the arctic silver.

    Thanks for the post!

Does take a bit to settle in (the paste). Concur on the pain part of dismantling the laptop.
Also your extra RAM you installed will cause some heat issues. Should be fine, laptop does a good job of cooling from what I've experienced with it.
