I'm looking into buying the Sony VGN-NS190J/L laptop from BestBuy for $799.99. I was checking to see if there is any reviews on this model on your website and forums but didn't find any. If anyone out there has this model can please tell me how satisfied you are with your purchase. This will be a gift for my wife and she will be using it to watch movies and tv shows over the internet, surfing the web, emails, and word documents.

    Thanks,
    Mike

i have bought this laptop, it was for $850.xx including tax i have had this laptop for abt 2 weeks now and im quite satisfied with the product( hardware ) and specially the looks which only vaio can deliver ( sleek and sexy at the same time ) ... what i would like to add here is that this comes with vista 64bit pre installed in it and for sure it has big stability issues. i have faced problems with itunes especially.. i have about 60 gigs of music for which i had made a new partition and then synchronised it with itunes which took about 2 hours and after about one hour the entire library got washed out leaving the original files intact in the new partition... this happened for about 3 times... then i moved the entire library to the c drive and then synchronised it again and i think it worked well for about 2 days or so and then the same thing happened.... iv not synchronised it again after that though.... please keep in mind that not all softwares are compatible with the vista 64 bit version.....
concluding my answer i would say vaio is awesome but vista 64bit sucks....

Hey Mike, I have the NS150DW (white) which is basically the same as the one you're looking to get, but without the Blu-Ray ROM.

I can say that this laptop looks beautiful, which is expected as Sony has always made very sleek, sexy laptops. The screen is beautiful and the keyboard feels very nice to type on. The ENTER key is slightly further to the right than normal, but it's not like that really matters that much lol.

It does come pre-loaded with Vista 64 so if you think there may be a program that your wife uses very frequently that might not be fully compatible with 64 bit OS then you should reconsider. Overall, I've had absolutely no problem running all my usual programs on this machine. In response to the previous comment, iTunes has always had some problems running on Vista 64. It's just Apple has decided that it doesn't want to fix it just yet. I run Adobe Creative Suite CS3, Office 2007, NOD32, uTorrent, InfraRecorder, Firefox, Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (w/ CCCP), Perfect Disk, ObjectDock, Desktop Media, AeroSnap, iCalendar Lite, RMClock, and a whole bunch of other programs and they all work just fine.

In conclusion, the NS is a REALLY nice laptop for the price. Simply amazing IMO. Tell us about your purchase and how you like the laptop if you do decide to get it. Also check out the Official NS Owners Thread
