I have a Sony VGN-S260P (out-of-warranty). Fan is normally loud. A few weeks ago the fan became abnormally loud, as if it needed lubrication. It also causes the machine to minimally vibrate, which it had never done prior to this problem. No idea why this problem happened. Have opened the laptop and cleaned the fan. I've optimized power settings to decrease fan usage. Still no change in performance.

Question 1: Any suggestions on what to do to solve this problem short of replacing the fan?

Question 2: If I need to replace the fan where should I purchase one?

Question 3: If I need to replace the fan is there a tutorial on how I can do so myself (I'm confident to the extent I can remove components but I realize the fan is connected to the motherboard and I'd essentially need to disassemble the entire machine).

    Thanks!
