Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with the Sony VGN-SZ180P/C? I'm considering getting one if I can find a reasonable price.
Thanks
-
nobody does, its not out yet
-
SZ180?
or do you mean SZ160 ? -
Link to the spec sheet all you want, but you might actually want to see if there's any store in the world that shows it in stock before asking for reviews.
Basically, there is currently nothing out above the SZ160. And no one knows when the higher models will actually be available (I note that that guy who posted a week ago that he was guaranteed picking up a 170 at his friend's Sony Store the next day still hasn't come back with his glowing report of that so-far mythical model...) -
Thanks sunshine, in the future I'll make sure I am an expert on a topic before I foolishly ask a question to gain knowledge.
-
i actually think they are about to start shipping the 170 and 180 based on previous posts
-
Nothing in those previous posts has been based on actual fact... I'll believe it's actually shipping about a month after it first shows up for preorder at Sony Style.
Hey, sorry Boe, but I get concerned about the amount of rumor, innuendo and wishful thinking that's passed around as fact on this forum. And a lot of that lately has to do with the other premium SZ models. -
No problem sun, I'll admit I am extremely hopeful about the sz model as well as the comparable Asus w7j. I'd like to buy a new notebook tomorrow if they were out so I'm anxious for any release info.

Hi There,
I have the U.K. Version (SZ1VP) and am loving it. Seems to be a very limited edition version (came with a certificate saying x of 2000 units)
Don't really have time to do a full review for you guys but would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Cheers

Thanks - what is the processor speed? What is the max memory config?
-
Besides processor, is there any real difference between an SZ 160 and an SZ 180? The trustedreview site shows a battery life of 4 hours and 22 minutes on Intel Graphics, and I find that a bit stunning.
-
Hi There,
The processor speed is great, the dual cores run at 2Ghz and I have maxed the RAM at 2GB. There is a real improvement in running dual processor capable software like Adobe Premiere Pro.

When running on "VAIO Maximum Battery" Power Profile and using the Intel integrated chipset (Stamina setting) I have had +5.5 hours using office applications (MS Word, MS Project etc.)
Haven't really had time to compare with using NVidia chipset yet.

Can you tell me the difference between SZ1VP and the Sony VGN-SZ180P/C?

Word has it that while Sony has the SZ180's ready, they are awaiting FCC approval on thier wireless before they can start selling here
-
and here we go again. the spec sheet says 256mb for video. Sony really needs to fix that. If sony really doesnt have a 256mb card.
