comes up with the Vaio screen, I removed battery and let it sit for a minute or 2
I put it in sleep mode last night and when I started it today it was a black screen with a cursor, thats when I did a reboot. One other thing I noticed it was warm almost like it never shut down last night.
I had this happen a couple times a few months ago.
I also tried F2 to setup and it said it was loading setup and never did.

tried restore disk but it seems to not see it.

finally got into the bios says I don't eve have a drive?

Do a Google search there are tricks that sometimes allow you to pull info off a bad drive. None are guaranteed, and the chances are usually slim, but once in a great while you get lucky.

As for drives, the favorite at the moment is obviously S.S.D., or the Seagate Momentus XT hybrid. For a conventional drive though, the Hitachi 500gig followed by the Western Digital Scorpion Black are the fastest. Either of which can be had for a little over $50 if you shop around.

Also, I would pull out the palm rest and reset the bios by unplugging and re-plugging the bios battery (system unplugged, and no battery). I have had to do this with several Sonys that have done similar things.
