    Sony VGN-SZ770N Windows 7 x64 Driver List
    -----------------------------------------

A lot of the drivers installed by default and using the Sony Update for Vista. But at the same time, some of them are also the

32 bit drivers where you might not see any functionality from them if they even install correctly.

the link below was found on notebook review ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=292536) and helped me a lot get rid

of the annoying (!) marks in Device Manager.

    http://www.vaio-link.com/os/vista/64bit/

Upon initial install of x64 Windows 7 i had the following problems.

    --------------------------------

no NVIDIA drivers would install correctly. * windows identified it as a standard vga plug and pray monitor.*

    Unknown Devices:
    1. Mass Storage Controller
    2. Unknown Device
    3. Unknown Device

    --------------------------------

    EP0000139786 - NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS (7.15.11.5609)

    EP0000139849 - Intel Wireless 4695AGN (Old Version 11.1.1.16) **

    *1. EP0000140007 - Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller

*2. EP0000140021 - Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device

    *3. EP0000140022 - Sony Programmable I/O Control Device

    ** Intel Wifi Link 4965 64bit Vista Drivers (12.4.3.9 64-Bit):
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...4-bit+version*&lang=eng&strOSs=159&submit=Go!

That's all i got for now. No more (!) in my Device Manager and the computer is running Smooth.

i have the volume fn buttons working, but no brightness. I used the files from this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=358376 :D

any ideas on why brightness doesn't work?

Yes, the SZ55GN uses the PM965 chipset like the SZ6-7 EU and North American models. All those models use the same basic hardware except from the processors.

    Mine is a VGP-VCC7

I'm using windows Ult x64 too. Since we apparently have the same hardware, we should be on the same page.

Can you tell me what files you used, and order you installed in? ;)
I disabled UAC, installed all the drivers first, then
    Sony Shared Library
    Setting Utility Services
    Vaio Event Service
In that order, restarting after installing each one. Then I set all executables in c:\program files\sony\vaio event service to 'run as administrator.'
All files were taken from the link I have above.

Try getting Shared [something] (forgot what it's called), and Event Service by extracting the EXE files provided by Sony and installing them individually.

Ok i have nearly everything working and that means my FN keys plus brightness keys, Nvidia graphics, smart network, power manager, wwan, bluetooth and my webcam. The only issue i have is with my SD cards showing up. I think they might possibly be there though. I might just have to may be work out how to get the icons showing in my computer. I actually had problems using this before although it was showing up so it could possibly be hardware related.

I found Vista Ultimate very fast. This might be a little faster but now i can address 4GB instead of the 3GB i had before.

Several of these guides helped me.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=2471168&postcount=1
I also used some of my old 32 bit OS drivers and a couple from the Z3 EU model that i got on the Vaio Link website.

    Hi there.

I do have a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ 780n (Canadian Model) 32bit - Vista Business. Last week my hard drive stops work, and I got a new one (320gb with 7200rpm). In this moment, I already had upgrade my default Ram memory from 2GB to 4GB.

Yesterday I decided to install the Win 7 (RTM Version) 32 bits instead of Sony's recover disks.

For the drivers, I've used the vista business 32 bits drivers for:
    - Video driver
    - Audio driver
    - Mouse point driver
    - Web cam driver
    - DVD ROM Driver
    - Input and I/O drivers (Game & etc)

In another threat, I've seen that those drivers may work also in win 7 64 bits.

In my 32 bits installation , most of the rest of the drivers where installed by Windows 7 ant it works perfectly (Lan, Wireless, USBs, Hard Disk, SD Drive, Memory Stick Drive, fingerprint sensor, etc), even better than the old Sony ones.

The only problems I'm having is (pretty much similar to the problems you guys are having):

1 - Can't install and can't get hot keys application (volume, etc) to work (I've take a look on the thread and will try to fix it tonoght).
2 - Can't install and can't get SDD Protection drivers & application to work
    3 - Can't install and can't get the Sony's version ArcSoft Magic-i (to face-tracking) to work
4 - Can't install and can't get the 3g modem and also, the smart wi to work
5 - My SD card reader looks installed correctly, but is not working. Also there is another generic drive at "my computer" tha't has nothing instaled at.
6 - The lasts updates from Windows Vista at Sony web site, enabled my Vaio to recognize and to work with 4GB. At windows 7, I can see the 4GB but only 3GB are available.

Do you guys have any clue to solve those 5 last issues ? Do you guys also know that, if I install win 7 64bits at my Vaio, it will works fine (and recognize the 4gb ram memory)?

    Tks in advance.

    Fabiodt

just bumped to laugh a bit.

sony put their windows 7 drivers on the support website, both 32bit and 64 bit.

so i bought a new drive, installed windows 7, and put all the sony supported drivers on the computer. after everything i still don't have drivers for:

    video in speed mode.
    fingerprint sensor
    mass storage controller
    2x unknown devices.

    GOOD JOB SONY !!!

Sorry to burst your bubble! But Sony has not provided any Win x64 drivers! Those are just Sony applications that are compatible with Win x64. You still have to get everything working on your own with a driver package from here and there.

If you are suggesting that the Intel Chipset driver, which one can download from Intel since day 1 of Win x64 release is a satifactory solution provided by Sony, then I've nothing more to add this discussion. It is misleading to suggest that by simply going to the link you provided will get Win x64 up and running on their SZ7xx. In your own word: "Finally win 7X64 drivers!" This cannot be further from the truth. You should check out the very lengthy Leslieann's thread to see how many trials and erros people have to go through to get almost 100% working.
