Hi all, I was given a Sony VGN-T140p notebook, the hard drive was dead so I took the notebook apart to replace the hard drive. The battery was good but not fully charged and was running with atleast 2+ hours before I dis-assemble the notebook. After dismantling the Notebook the battery were left sitting for 3 weeks while I waited for a new hard drive. I got the new hard drive, put it in and started installing WinXP on it(with all sony drivers and ultilities from sony website), installed completed and everything was good...after a full day of AC plug in, I Unplugged the AC adapter thinking the battery would probably be charged, but then the notebook shut off...thats when I notice the battery was NOT charging at all, even thought the battery light double blink yellow ( according to the manual its suppose to be charging)....so I took out a multimeter and measured the 6 pins on the back of the notebook, there are voltage at those pins (3 pins were reading 3.2V) but the battery is not charging. I am wondering if the charging circuit not doing its job...could it be the battery is completely dead after sitting for 3 weeks( I did checked the 6 pins on the battery, no voltage at all)? what else could the problem be? please anyone with some insight let me know...The notebook runs great with AC plug in, anyway, if anyone have the same notebook as mine and working good, would you be so kind to measure the 6 pins going to your battery and reply with the voltage reading that would be great. this is to prove that the motherboard and charging circuit is still working....thank you all. and happy holiday.
