I have had a Sony VGN-T350 for a couple years now, and recently it has become a big problem. At first it started BSOD'ing (Blue Screen Of Death) but now has started just plainly restarting and freezing.
I am not the most careful user of a laptop, but I never abuse it either. The warranty on it has gone down long ago. I have never really abused it harshly, I babied it at first, but when I found out how stable it is, I wasn't as careful with it, but still not like throwing it around, or dropping it. I always carry it in my backpack laptop pocket, which is like reinforced on all sides, and never throw my backpack. But what I wasn't so careful about was overheating, sometimes this thing heated so much, but I decided that it should be Ok because normally computers restart before they get to a critical temperature (I am not the smartest guy with laptops, but I understand quite a big about desktops)
Then when this problem started bothering me constantly, I checked it out. Reinstalled windows for a start, and testing it around a little bit. Such as checking temp now and then to see why it was freezing/restarting/bsoding.
Heres the things I've tried and found.
Bumping it on the screen, pressing on the screen, or moving the screen quickly causes a weird red grid kinda thing on it, and it freezes like that.
Bumping on the bottom slightly freezes it.
Turning off the sound with the button, or turning off all wireless capability with the button causes it to BSOD or Restart.
Shaking it slightly, ends up with a BSOD/Freeze or restart.
Turning it on with a couple fans blowing into it, makes it work for a longer period of time before freezing. I have placed it outside on top of my car when it was cold and it worked for a couple of hours before finally freezing.
This is a constant problem and it randomly does one of those things even when its sitting perfectly still with no movement. So it looks like its a heat and movement problem. Anyone know anything I can do? If I cannot do anything by myself, I will attempt GeekSquad who have promised to fix it, and if they don't will send to Sony's repair.
I love the laptop because it is small and powerful, but I am in no position to get a new Sony, so I really need help on fixing the problem.![]()

Come on, any suggestions? ANY HELP IS GOOD
I am thinking of starting to replace stuff starting off with the memory. What would be something to replace after? This is a comp which I payed over 2 grand for, and I am expecting it to work a couple more years. -
Well, more or less, it seems like an issue with the HDD, not the RAM, so try replacing that, though I suggest you burn urself a recovery disc first.

Ok thanks, Ill try that first then.
