    Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-Z21 (13.1") laptop which I in many ways am satisfied with.

However, the mousepad to me appears to be hypersensitive - very, very often when I write and the palm of my hand comes near the corner of the mousepad it causes the cursor to "jump" and so my writing suddenly continues at a random place in the document.

I would like to find a solution to this, if possible, and hope that someone here in this forum have suggestions as to what to do ...

    Thanks for reading.

    Regards,

    Jesper

Hi there, I have a VPC-Z and I experience the same problem as you do. There's an option on the SB that allows you to disable the touchpad temporarily when it detects keys are pressed (but it's still functional when keys are released), and this function fixes that problem. Not sure if you can do it on the Z though. Try going into VAIO control center and mess around with the options.

    Hi BrianHo,

Thanks for the tip. However, it doesn't appear to be an option in the Vaio Control Center that comes with this laptop ... Might you or another of the people writing in this forum know of an alternative - maybe a small software program that does this?

    Greetings,

    Jesper

    Hi again,

Just in case others have a similar problem I'd like to say that I found a solution which - in my experience - works flawlessly. It's a free softwareapplication called: touchpad blocker.

It's available for download from the internet and although I've only used it on my Sony Vaio I guess it's as usable on other computers.

It has shifted my Vaio from virtually useless for typing a document to fully functional :)

You've tried changing the sensitivity of the track pad?
