Hi, bought this for Nieces birthday, bit embarrassed asit won't start and just out of warrany
Switches on, Power, battery and bluetooth lights come on, but NOT hard drive light, screen does not light up (Not a flicker) no sign of Bios check sounds, you hear it going to CD drive and checking it and hard drive spins up, fan comes on, but windows never starts, although H/D keeps spinning, after a while fan comes back on and you can feel the warmth from the cpu out the vent.
As I said, the screen stays black, no sign of life.
have dismantled the screen lid and all cables are in place and I have checked the connections under the cover at the top of the keyboard (speakers are mounted on) and the screen cable is firmly in the socket as are the connections on the double light inverter
I have been unable to check any further as I cannot get base off
seems to be held arround the battery connections
Any hints anyone can give would be appreciated, I have, incidentally, tried taking battery out overnight then pressing power button for 60 seconds and then trying to start with no luck
    Thanks, Boyd

It's a long shot but try unplugging the ac charger, and remove the battery. then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. now put everything back and see if it works. This worked on my vaio. It has something to do with static charge on the mobo i was told.

Sorry for the delay in answering, been away.
I have already tried that one, left off, with battery out overnight and held the button down for about 2 mins, reconnected and tried, no change
    Thanks for the reply anyway

Did you try taking out the memory and then reseating them?
Maybe one of the RAM modules is bad.
