Perhaps a little off-topic, technically not entirely laptop-related, though this might be something nice to leave set up at home or office connected via DVI to a docking station for your Vaio.

Anybody seen this display yet? Currently only available in Japan to my knowledge. Sells at 129,000 yen ($1110 or €820).

Sold at SonyStyle Japan here: http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Qnavi/Detail/VGP-D24WD1.html

Anybody know of any European (or US) release yet? Thinking of asking pricejapan whether they could ship one or not. Only thing I wanna make sure is that it will definitely work here in Europe and whether they can deliver a European AC adapter + plug.

    ^Bump.

Anybody know if it would work here (i.e. for computer monitors do I have to look at NTSC/PAL, no no?) Thought it mentioned something about NTSC 92% color range somewhere in the specs which is making me doubt whether they'd work.

Also, would this work on the European (230V) power-net? As far as I know most monitors have a simple power cord which goes straight from the monitor to the AC plug (without an adapter...).

Just curious, why would pay so much and go through a lot of trouble for a monitor like that?

    am i missing something?

820 euro there, would propably mean >1200 euro to get it here.

Well I'm thinking of trying to order via pricejapan. Looks like a very decent monitor and I'm on the lookout for a nice 24" LCD to connect to a docking station.

I would wait for some solid reviews before deciding. There are a lot of other decent 24" screens on the market.

    What Vaio has DVI output?

You will need DVI in my opinion to have a crisp 1900*1200 resolution.

Other suggestions: HP w2408 or Dell 2407. The first one you can get for 500 euros the second for 650 at ebay with 5 yr warranty.

    DVI via the docking station.

That Dell 2407 is also an option and it looks pretty nice...though I'm one of those guys who are quite brand-loyal when it comes to these things hence I was looking for a Sony option first. Plus its meant to be a really good monitor. If I would've ordered an m1330 then it'd have been a Dell 2407 without a doubt. I'll have a look at that HP. Thanks for the tip ;-)

If a VGA signal is analogue and average quality when it comes out of a laptop, I have my doubts that you will get a good enough signal for driving a DVI port with 1980*1200.

this is one of the big plusses of the 1330, it had HDMI, a digital video connection.

what laptop do you want to connect?

    An SZ680.

And I've just found out it won't be via that Sony 24", the Japanese version only workings on 100V.

A transformer can always take care of the voltage difference.

Mmm yea but too much hassle though I think, getting it from Japan already and then also having to go and get a transformer..

Maybe the LCD will come with an autovolt transformer or just 100-110v

Am i the only one who has doubts about the SZ being able to deliver a good quality signal for 1900*1200 monitor?

especially when the VGA signal is connected to DVI?

    Maybe I am wrong here.
