    1. Hello. My laptop does not switch on. When I press the power button on, the red hard disk light comes on. When I release the power button the red light goes off. The internal fan does not switch on. I dismantled the laptop but I cannot figure out what is wrong. Any suggestions? I tested the internal fan with a battery and it is functional. Could it be a fuse or is the motherboard dead?

    2. Any ideas what the jumper switches on the motherboard are?

The only thing I can think of is doing a "reset", but if you've already dismantled it, that's probably not it.
    Code:
    unplug AC adapter
    remove battery
press and hold power button for 30 seconds, then release
    install battery
plug AC back in and turn on.

this worked for my SR when it would not turn on.

if the VPCEA motherboard is not working anymore, you could replace it.
I saw some vpcea replacement boards on ebay.
