I am new to posting, 1st one,(yeah!!!) but I have been on here reading threads for a while. A lot of it is above my knowledge level but not totally.
I have been reading about SSD and TRIM and GC as well as other programs out there that are used to maintain SSD at there optimum write speeds. SSD have also been improved now to minimize this, however I have a question that despite my reading I am still unclear with the Sony VPCZ1290X SSD.
1. Is the latest Sony laptop using TRIM at all or is it still using GC or something else to maintain the SSD?
2. When the SSD WRITE speed does slow down will it slow to the level of a typical Sony 7,200 RPM HDD that you would find on one of it's other laptops or is it be slower than that?
3. If and when it write speed does slow down is their a command to activate this SSD cleaner or GC on this laptop?
I appreciate any of those questions that could be answered, I do extensive video editing and the power in this small light weight laptop has me considering it but it is a steep price and I want to make sure it will be worth ir for my case.

RAID 0 does not support TRIM in any computer. the Z has automatic GC in place when the system is idle to prevent degradation.

You can't tell when GC is working, not sure how long it has to be on to do it's thing but really it's not something you have to worry about.
No Vaio Z does trim because they all have RAID-0. It's not a Sony thing, it's just something no computer or laptop can do if it's using RAID 0. -
but don't just take my word for it, check out this post by psyang

some dips, some climbs but overall steady performance for an admitted "heavy user"
