Hi everybody,
I have a Vaio VPCZ13. My old fan gave me a "high-pitched" noise, therefore I replaced it with a new one. The problem now is that the fan runs continously in a very annoying pattern: it runs 100% for around 10 seconds, stops for 2-3 seconds and continues. This goes on and on, although the laptop is cold or just switched on. When putting my notebook back together there is one part I could not figure out where it belongs to (see pictures).

Could it be that when replacing the fan I may have "killed" the temperature sensor such that the system cannot determine the temperature?
Is there anyway to solve this very disturbing problem?
thank you very much!

Are you sure the new fan is 100% compatible? Original Sony part?

hello anytimer,
well, yes, I think so. I ordered it through a computerstore offering replacement article. It states that the fan is compatible to a VAIO VPCZ13C5E. Do you think it´s the fan´s problem rather than some problem caused when assembling the notebook?
