    Hey guys,

Well, I have a sony vaio I picked up in October 2010 and it's doing something strange. I turned it on today and it has blue/green lines both horizontal and vertical and one black circle up on the right side. It won't even get me to a login screen. Anyone ever see this? I can post a picture from my cell if that makes it easier.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Sounds like a cracked LCD. An uploaded image will make it easier.

Time to call up Sony for warranty repair (but yeah, please upload a pic so we can see if it's self-fixable)

If it's still under warranty, I'd contact Sony or the retailer you bought it from... If the lines weren't so linear, I'd guess the screen was exposed to a magnet, but I'm not convinced that's the case here. In any case, take it in and it should be fixable.

Got the computer looked at over at Best Buy today. They said the screen is busted. No idea how this happened but I guess I will be looking for a new screen because they quoted me $400 plus labor to fix. What are good recommendations for LCD replacements?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Many times, the screens themselves are the same part # but they list every possible config. The two VAIO's you listed, the only difference between them was the chassis color (and thus should be the same LCD panel). You might consider calling them.
