    Hey Guys,

I've got this laptop for almost a year now. No problems for the entire year except for the stupidity I did of formatting my laptop so I could delete my single partition and create a double partition. I've already installed the OS and the required drivers, but my problem now is that I can't use my fingerprint scan. I called up the support and they asked me to install the default drivers that are there on the www.sony-asia.com website. I already did that.

My question was, aren't VAIO restore files on a seperate hidden partition. I mean even if I deleted my partition the restore files should still be somewhere on my system right? If they are how do I restore my laptop? I just basically want all my devices to function(fingerprint scanner & Camera). I know the files cannot be restored but that doesn't matter since I already have the backup...

    Any help is appreciated.

Where are you from? I have a copy of the recovery discs for this model. I can courier it to you if you wish. PM me for more info.

BTW, I think the drivers on the site would work as well. Which OS are you running and how did you install it? Retail Vista DVD?

    Hello ecronic
I am owning exactly the same laptop model. In my opinion, even if you have formatted the c drive, there is still a hidden partition within your system which is about 7.69Gb.
When you restart your PC, press F10 key couple of times, that should bring the recovery software to launch, so you can restore the system in 3 steps: c or custom drive recovery, installing windows vista business, restoring the default software.
P.S: Don't forget to backup all your files when doing reinstall/restoration.
Let me know if this works,
    Good luck
