Hi, does anyone know or have the Sony Vaio A230? Does the A series live up to its Sony brand name quality? Anyways, I found that you can get the A230 at SonyStyle.com for only $1,049. Is this a good, deal? I see that not many people have the A series, but do they have good battery life? It seems like a good deal seeing, all that comes with the laptop. Even though it doesnt have XBRITE technology it still has ErgoBright technology with adjusts screen resolution via a sensor that can tell the brightness in the room. Anyways, should I get this system?

well, i have the A240 since it was customizable and had the widescreen. basically the same as the preconfigured A250 without some fluff...and the A230 i assume. at any rate, this isn't a laptop made for extreme mobility or anything of the like. it is a desktop replacement, but boy what a replacement it is. it's design is very simple and clean...in all honesty, some of the laptops out there with buttons and different colored extras look a little cheesy to me. the A series definitely lives up to it's name in style and presentation. as a computer, it is also extremely smooth sailing. once you tweak XP with all the "necessary" adjustments, you're good to go. the wifi works great and even has the ability to turn off if you need to (to save battery). again, since this is a desktop replacement, don't expect great battery life. about 4 hours max...but since the one you're considering doesn't have the xbrite, it may be longer. i don't really know. speaking of xbrite, it really is worth it if you can get it. just go to circuit city and fiddle with a A250, then some random laptop without "xbrite" and you'll be amazed. either way, i got mine for a steal, and you apparently will too....it's the best bang for the buck laptop out there, in my opinion. i'm sure this wasn't all the stuff you needed to know, but don't hesitate to contact me if you have some more specific questions.

I thought you could get the A230 with Xbrite. IMHO, the SXGA Xbrite 15" A230 would be perfect for someone who finds the 17" a bit too big.
