I bought yesterday a Sony Vaio VGN-NW20EF/S. I think its excellent but i was told it has bluetooth, it seems to have bluetooth option when I press star and go in to startup folder but it does nothing. I can go to the program files WIDCOMM, and the bluetooth software is in there. BTtray and other files. I also have bluetooth exchange folder. Does anyone have this model and any idea if it has bluetooth,it seems to have....it seems confused

little bit more info,it came with wondows 7 home premium

Looking at the spec at Sony UK I did not see a Bluetooth transmitter. The software is there even if you do not have that hardware so you can use a usb bluetooth devise. If you need one there are some class 2 and class one devises available that are very small.

no, but all the software is there. I got told the version though which is WIDCOMM can have a radio or some sort of program that acts the same way...

The software is standard weather you have a BT radio or not. My sisters Toshiba is set up that way. If you are not happy with the computer know is the time to take it back and look for another model. When I bought my BZ I was looking for a model with XP and Bluetooth. If you like the computer other than the BT radio not being there I would get a class 1 micro usb adapter. I wish they would put a class one in all laptops.

i'm having exact same issue with one slight variable. Out of the box as soon as it booted up i got a "failed to install Bluetooth" msg, and its not even showing in my Device Manager with the little yellow triangle with the exclamation point. I KNOW this model is supposed to come with Bluetooth, even on the Sony site it downloads the driver when u put in your model # - only problem is when i did that, it said "this driver is for Vista or Windows 7 only. So i'm thinking, "Um, thats what i have" - strange, huh?

Will research further and see what i find, not sure its that big of an issue, as i love love love this computer (TO DEATH!) but on the other hand i don't really want to reduce my 3 USB ports to 2 by installing a Bluetooth dongle, when this thing plainly said in the Best Buy Specs "Bluetooth Enabled: YES"

(i hope that doesn't mean "capable" BUT "not equipped with" becuz that's a big "DUH" in my opinion as any machine made after like 2007 is CAPABLE of Bluetooth so i think that would be "pretty misleading".)

Your CW BT issue is of a different sort. The original poster has the NW series notebook that does NOT come with BT, which means he is going to have to buy a BT dongle. Your issue might have to do with a driver problem. If able, download that driver on the support page after you get that message. You never stated if you tried to do that, just that the message of " this driver is for Windows Vista or Windows 7 only " appears.

    Bluetooth issue FIXED!

I typed in "Bluetooth Issue CW Vaio issue and received this link:

    http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100110050509AAFuMIx

It seems it will NOT show up UNTIL you "right click on the wifi link (down lright hand corner)- Once you do that it will give you the option to "Activate your Bluetooth". I followed all the prompts and it instantly installed and the icon appeared. Then i right clicked on the icon, went into "settings" and made the computer "discoverable" by checking the little box, and it immediately found my cell phone and i've already sent files between the two so all is well.

I've used the "dongle" but its always nicer when the Bluetooth is "already on your computer" because it offers "calling options" using your cell phone through your computer that i never saw when just "adding the dongle".

    Hope this helps y'all-
